Identify the information that sends people away
Walk through a realistic request and mark details a customer may need to look up elsewhere. Decide which are necessary for first contact and which can be collected later. Keep supporting instructions close to the relevant question, and make it clear how much remains to complete. Removing an unnecessary lookup may help more than adding a longer staged form.
Test leaving and returning to the unfinished task
Ask IMS to demonstrate the agreed behavior when a visitor follows a preparation link, uses the back button or leaves the page and returns. Record which answers remain and whether the visitor can tell if anything was submitted. Draft saving or recovery across visits needs an explicit scope; it should not be inferred from appearance. Include a clear contact alternative when the customer cannot finish the online task.
Will an unfinished mobile inquiry automatically be saved?
Only if that behavior is deliberately implemented and tested. Explain the actual experience, keep required first-contact details proportionate and give customers a useful route to contact the business if they cannot resume the form.
